“Not My Life is the first documentary film to depict the horrifying and dangerous practices of human trafficking and modern-day slavery on a global scale.

Filmed on five continents over a period of four years, Not My Life unflinchingly, but with enormous dignity and compassion, depicts the unspeakable practices of a multi-billion dollar global industry whose profits, as the film’s narration says, “are built on the backs and in the beds of our planet’s youth.”

I’ve heard about human trafficking more than the average teenager, which mean I’ve heard about it at all. Once I brought up human trafficking to my friend and asked if she knew what it was, even a little, and she said no. She told me she had no idea slavery even existed any more, let alone in the United States. It’s sobering that next to no one knows about it and it’s one of the biggest problems and crimes the world knows.

      Hi Annabeth,
Thanks for visiting and commenting. Sorry to say it doesn’t get that much better among a lot of adults. Many people are just not aware of how many people are enslaved right now. But we all had to hear about it somewhere the first time, and good for you for getting more educated about slavery, as well as for telling your friend. Maybe in a generation, slavery really will be history.
      Regards,
      Carl
